Unito's field mapping functionality lets you customize and configure your flows with careful precision. This article will explain which field types can be configured, particularly those with multiple values or options including: statuses, states, labels, or tags.
Definitions
When we talk about configuration and customization, here's what we mean:
- Configure: Apply additional rules to specific fields. This includes linking single-select, picklist, or choice field options; grouping field options (values) together; appending ticket numbers to titles, etc.
- Customize: You can include or exclude whichever fields you want in any given flow, including custom fields. The names of your custom fields and their values will appear in Unito.
About field mapping configurations in Unito
There are several options for field configurations to choose from, depending on your tools and fields.
Add ticket or issue number to a title
Unito's connectors for Jira, Zendesk, GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket all allow you to add the issue or ticket number to the title of your other synced item automatically for faster ticket tracking.
Single or multi select field linking
Any single or multi-select field (e.g., status, priority, state, etc...) can be further configured to pair up individual options within those fields. This is particularly useful if your linked single or multi-select fields contain the same information with different option names.
Example of configured priority fields:

- In this example, the Low and Lowest field options on the left are grouped together since the tool on the right, presumably, doesn't include the same number of options.
- If a status on the left changes to Lowest, it will also change to Low on the right.
- If a status on the right changes to Low, the status on the left will always change to Low, since it appears first in the hierarchy above.
How to configure field values in Unito
After mapping your fields (automatically or manually), you can further refine how their values sync, especially for fields with multiple options like statuses, labels, or dropdowns. This ensures the right information flows between your tools.
- Select the gear (or cog) icon beside a pair of synced fields.
- Click + Add more.
- Choose a value for each field.
- Grouped Values: Use the "+" button to combine multiple values in one tool into a single value in the other. (e.g., "In Progress" and "In Review" in one tool become "Active" in the other.)

- Individual Value Pairs: Map values one-to-one, so each status change is reflected precisely. (e.g., "High Priority" in one tool matches "Urgent" in the other.). This can be done by selecting + Add more labels for each pair of values you need to match.
- A mix of grouped and individual value pairs: In the example below, the Still Waiting status is synced to both In Progress and Selected for Development, while the other pairs of synced values are individually paired.

Customization in Unito
Since Unito supports custom fields for most connectors, it's impossible to quantify all the possible iterations and combinations your flow enables. So, for many of you each use case will be completely different.
A single-select field for one user might represent the stages of a project, while for another they can stand in for assignees, or deals in the pipeline, pharmaceutical equipment or manufacturing supplies and so much more.
The key is to consider what information you need to relay to someone in the other tool. Don't just link single-choice fields together because you can. First, make sure they serve the same purpose. If a choice field in one tool represent people or contacts, while a similar field in the other connected tool represents levels of urgency, you shouldn't link those fields together in a flow.
