Understanding CITs in Wrike
- Task Types: These function as to-do lists within projects, ideal for smaller work items.
- Project Types: Designed for larger, complex work with multiple tasks, perfect for initiatives requiring sub-tasks or phases.
Both custom item types in Wrike offer basic fields, allow for custom field creation, and can have unique workflows associated with them.
Here's how to create custom item types in Wrike.
How to set up custom item types for Wrike Sync
- Connect your tools as you would in any flow.
- Choose a flow direction
- Set your rules:
- If you only want to sync data from your CITs, add the CIT as a rule.
- Syncing from another tool TO Wrike: Under your list of actions, you can add a rule to "set default custom item type to" your chosen CIT.
- If you have multiple item types to sync, be sure to configure your item types in the next step.
- Configure your field mappings
- If your other connected tool also has item types, be sure to pair up each item type with your CITs. If you don't configure fields this way, then all newly-created items will refer to your default rules.
