How to Configure GitHub Server for Unito Access
Learn how to set up the OAuth application in GitHub Server that will allow you to connect it to Unito.
Prerequisites
Before you can add a GitHub Server connector in Unito, your server itself must be configured to recognize the Unito app.
Organization Owner Access: You must be logged into GitHub Server as an organization owner.Note: You may also need to configure a few extra steps to connect your server to Unito.
Setting Up an OAuth Application in GitHub Server
Access Organization Settings:
- Log in to GitHub Enterprise and navigate to your organization's settings.
- Click on the "OAuth applications" link.
Register a New Application:
- Click on "Register a new application."
Configure Application Details:
- Application name: Enter "Unito Sync".
- Homepage URL: Enter "https://unito.io"
- Authorization callback URL: Enter "https://app.unito.io"
Save Credentials:
- Note down the generated Client ID and Client Secret. You'll need these later when connecting your GitHub Server in the Unito app.
Once you've successfully created the OAuth application, you're ready to connect GitHub Server to Unito.
Additional Tips:
- Security: OAuth is a secure authorization protocol that allows Unito to access your GitHub data without directly handling your credentials.
- Permissions: Ensure your GitHub organization owner account has sufficient permissions to create OAuth applications.
- Troubleshooting: If you encounter issues, consult our GitHub troubleshooting guide or contact our support team.
By following these steps, you'll establish a secure connection between your GitHub Server and Unito, allowing you to sync your GitHub repositories, issues, and pull requests with other tools in your workflow.
