An Overview of Unito's Airtable Integration (Powered by Advanced Sync)

What Unito syncs from Airtable

Unito syncs records from your Airtable bases, so a record in a table stays paired with a work item in your other tool. In Jira that pair is a work item, in Asana it is a task, in Smartsheet it is a row. Changes flow in both directions by default.

Alongside the record's own columns, Unito syncs:

  • Comments. Comments on an Airtable record sync both ways, including edits and deletions. Airtable comments are plain text, so a comment arriving from a tool that supports formatting comes in as text.
  • Attachments. Files in an Airtable attachment column sync both ways. Unito can add files to that column and pull Airtable's files out to the other tool.
  • Formatting. Rich text in a long text field keeps its formatting, including headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, lists, links, quotes and code. Underline, highlighting, superscript, subscript, tables and @mentions come across as text without their formatting.
  • Linked records. A field that links to another record syncs as a real reference to that record, in both directions.
  • People. Collaborator fields sync both ways, matched against the people who collaborate on that base. Airtable groups are not supported as collaborators.

Every Airtable field can be synced with Unito. Here's a list of these fields as well as supported sync directions and rules.

  • One-way: Changes in this field can be synced to the tool it’s integrated with, but changes in the other tool can’t be synced back.
  • Two-way: Changes to this field will be synced to the tool it’s integrated with, and changes in the other tool will be synced back.
  • Rules: This field can be used to build rules.

Anything Airtable calculates for you, like a formula, rollup, lookup or count, can only sync out of Airtable, because there is nothing for Unito to write back into it. Everything else syncs both ways. You can build flow rules on the fields Unito reads, so filtering which records sync is not limited to the fields in any particular row above.
