Connect Jira or GitHub Enterprise

Some tools need to be set up before you can connect them to Unito.

Follow these easy steps in Jira to configure it for Unito access.

GitHub Enterprise

Follow these easy steps in GitHub to configure it for Unito access.

Create a bot User

When you connect your favorite tools, the system will use your connectors to sync between them. These connectors will be designated as the source of any changes/comments synced. This means every action (creating a task, closing it, commenting, etc.) will have your name on it.

With a Bot User, you remove this confusion as the action owner becomes the neutral user.

Here is a quick guide on how to create a Bot User.

Set up a sync

Creating a sync is quick and easy. After adding connectors for your favorite tools, you just need to choose the projects you want to connect and the sync starts automatically!

Here is a step by step guide on how to set up your first sync.

Advanced settings

We want to make sure your Sync fits your team's workflow, so we added settings to help you customize it.

You can access these settings when you're creating a new Sync by clicking on the "Customize" checkbox (on the "Review your Sync" page):

Or directly in the Unito App once your Sync has been created

Sync your tool users

Unito automatically maps active users when they are using the same email address in both tools. If the email addresses don't match, you'll need to help the system know who is who. Check your user's mapping in the "Map Fields" tab of your Sync settings, under the "Map Users" sub-tab.

Here's how user mapping works in Unito.

Sync your workflows

If you're working with tools that allow complex task statuses and workflows, we let you map them across tools to better fit your team's workflow. You can do this under the "Map Fields" tab when editing your Sync.

Here is a quick article on mapping your task statuses and workflows.

Sync priority and importance

Some tools let you give priority or importance levels to certain tasks. Unito syncs those too, but you need to make sure they are correctly mapped in your Sync settings under the "Map Fields" tab.

Here is a guide on mapping priority and importance levels.

Customize field syncing

When you set up a sync between two tools, Unito automatically matches equivalent fields and syncs their data. But while default settings can cover a wide range of use cases, your workflow might have unique aspects or extra fields you absolutely want to sync up.

Here's a quick article on customizing which fields sync and how they'll do it.

Filters tasks and issues

Unito can easily sync all of a project's tasks to another tool. But maybe that doesn't fit your workflow, and you want to be able to pick and choose which tasks get picked up by the Sync. With filters, you can set up conditions for which tasks will sync.

Warning: We recommend you set up filters when creating your Sync. The filter will only be applied to new tasks and issues and not the ones already synced.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to implement filters.

Sync subtasks

Unito's level of subtask support depends on the tool you're using. For tools that support them (e.g. Asana) Unito will sync up to one level of subtasks. For tools that don't support subtasks at all (e.g. GitHub) Unito cannot sync subtasks. This means that a sync between Asana and GitHub won't deal with subtasks at all.

Here is a more detailed breakdown of syncing subtasks in Unito.

Note that subtask support is only available for Team, Business, Business X, and Enterprise plans. If you're on a Personal plan, and you want to add subtask syncing to your workflow please reach out to us and we can talk upgrades!

Sync labels and tags

Labels and tags are crucial for organizing tasks. With Unito, these tools become even more flexible! Not only can you sync labels and tags across tools, you can also feed them to Unito's filters to determine which tasks get synced.

Sync file attachments

By default, attached files are synced  as a list of links in a task's description. You can easily tweak this behavior for each tool in your Sync settings.
