An Overview of Unito's Airtable Integration

Looking to add Airtable to your workflow? Here's what you can expect from our integration.

In this article:

Unito can sync Airtable records with work items in other tools with automated 2-way updates on either end. By creating a Unito flow, you'll be able to turn Airtable records into work items in other tools and vice versa.

This article will give you an overview of supported fields in Airtable, as well as the limitations of Unito's integration.

How do you sync Airtable records with Unito?

To connect Airtable and/or another tool through Unito Sync Platform, users create flows. Flows represent the connection between Airtable and other tools comprised of four steps:

Which fields can be synced in Airtable?

Unito supports all Airtable field types, though only some support 2-way sync, while certain others can be used in rules. Here's a full list of Airtable field types supported by Unito.

What counts as an item in sync?

For Airtable, Unito counts every synced record as an item in sync.

How to add a Last modified time field

Make sure to add the Last Modified Time column to bases you want to sync. Unito workflows need this bit of data in order to work properly. You can always hide this column if you don't need to see it, but make sure you don't delete it.
  1. From your Airtable base, click + to add a column.
  2. Scroll down the list and look for Last Modified Time. Not to be confused with Last Modified By. They're different fields with similar sounding names, so don't mix them up.
  3. You can give it a name, or not, but this field won't be mapped by Unito. It is required, however, for your flow to function as intended.

Limitations and other considerations

We’re constantly looking to better support Airtable’s growing list of features, fields, and use cases.  Here are a few things you can't do yet:

  • Sign up to Unito with your Airtable account

  • Creating a table from Unito

  • Syncing comments

Mapping fields in a customizable table

Unito will automatically map similar fields across tools. In Airtable, that isn't always possible, since Airtable fields can be highly customized for just about anything. With that in mind, make sure you create a Title column in Airtable using a Single-line text field, and map it to a similar field in your other tool. Otherwise, you might end up with a bunch of work items with no titles!

Drop-down lists

If you want to sync a dropdown list (like Status), make sure it's in the base you're building your workflow around. Otherwise, you won't be able to select it when you set a sync direction for your fields.

Connecting tables from other workspaces

  • You can use Unito to sync a table that's already being synced through Airtable's built-in features.
  • You can use Unito to sync two Airtable bases from different workspaces.
